Description: As a member of the nursing faculty team under the supervision of the department head, the clinical coordinator will serve as a liaison between the clinical faculty, the department head and the affiliate agencies in regards to schedule and coordinate clinical rotations and the onboarding processes. The clinical coordinator is also accountable for assisting and supporting the department head and / or department dean as needed in meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the program, department and division.

Clinical Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Serve as liaison between the clinical faculty, the department head, and the affiliate agencies in regard to scheduling and coordination of clinical rotations.
- Provide for orientation and orienting of clinical faculty and preceptors in the delivery of appropriate clinical instruction.
- Assist the department head with the recruitment and interviewing of part-time clinical faculty and recommending for employment.
- Collect, review, and maintain student clinical documents and records. Communicate with students regarding missing or expired documents. Note: The clinical coordinator does not communicate positive criminal background check or drug screen results.
- Coordinate meetings each term of the clinical faculty and agency personnel for discussion of common clinical problems and improvement of the delivery of clinical education.
- Collaborate with department head to assist with evaluation of the clinical instructional staff and make recommendations toward the improvement of instruction to the instructional staff, course leaders, and department head.
- Schedule appropriate clinical rotations to assure fair and equal assignments of students for all clinical related activities.
- Provide regular visitation to each affiliated institution where students receive clinical experience to assure adequacy of instruction and record keeping.
- Assume other responsibilities and additional tasks as assigned by the department head or dean in meeting the needs of the program, department, division, and the College.
Working Hours:
Up to 25 hours per week as determined by the supervisor to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including occasional evening and weekend hours. Summer schedules may vary. - Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- The clinical coordinator/instructor must hold a current unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina
- The Associate Degree Nursing clinical coordinator/instructor must hold a master's degree with a major in nursing, or be continuously enrolled in a master's program.
- Prior to or within the first three years of employment, the clinical coordinator/instructor must have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to assignment. This preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:
- completion of 45 contact hours of continuing education courses
- completion of a certificate program in nursing education
- nine semester hours of education course work
- national certification in nursing education
- documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board.
- Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role within the curriculum implementation, objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population and expectations of student and faculty performance.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of two calendar years of full- time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.
- Current knowledge of classroom/clinical instructional techniques and procedures.
- Experience in clinical teaching. Background experience in the area of Medical-Surgical, Nursing.
