Purpose of Job |
The Assistant Coach will provide support to the Head Coach on the daily management and administration of all phases of the Division I Men’s Basketball program in accordance with all NCAA, SWAC and College regulations. |
Scope of Responsibilities |
Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to assisting with planning and conducting practices; lending assistance in the evaluation and recruitment of qualified student athletes; individual player skill development and team performance development; monitoring academic progress; coordinating services to the team with other department support areas; scheduling games and management of the program’s budget. The assistant coach will be expected to work cooperatively and closely with student services such as sports medicine, strength and conditioning and academic advising and other departments on campus. Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, conference and college rules and regulations are required. |

Qualifications |
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and at least one year of relevant experience are required. Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, conference and college rules and regulations are required. Excellent knowledge of the techniques of the sport and excellent communication skills desired. College coaching and/or playing experience preferred. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and insurability at the time of appointment and must maintain such license and insurability throughout the tenure of employment. A background screening will be required. |
