Job Description:
The Network Services Supervisor will be a working Systems Administrator with supervisory duties of seven direct reports from Systems, Networking, Telecommunications and Cabling. In order to supervise the direct reports, it is important for the candidate to have a strong working knowledge of networking, telecommunication and cabling.
Supervisory duties will include coordination of the day to day operations of system administrators, networking, telecommunication and cabling staff. The supervisor will also be responsible for creating performance programs, conducting annual employee evaluations, providing input to annual goals, managing projects to meet annual goals and coordinate regular staff meetings with direct reports.
The Systems Administrator duties will include responsibility in the areas of physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers. The duties will include server backup, testing, verification and documentation; server hardware and software installation and upgrading; server repair and maintenance; server migrations and virtualization; creation and maintenance of server inventory documentation; database maintenance of numerous small databases; script creation for automated tasks; and setup and management of storage area networks.
The Systems Administrator team will provide support for online applications such as Blackboard, streaming media, web services, license serving, print services, DNS services, DHCP services, SharePoint services and e-mail services.
The Systems Administrator is expected to be fully involved in Systems initiatives, research, and reports and is expected to function as a team member of Technology Services while realizing that most assignments will require a high degree of independent thought and work.
The successful candidate will display strong interpersonal, written communication and customer service skills, be able to work with others and demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects while remaining both focused and organized. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong networking, cabling and telephony skills.
The workday will be approximately eight hours between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. The exact schedule will be arranged with the supervisor and based upon College needs. Work assignments may require travel between the Alfred and Wellsville campuses, a distance of about 15 miles. Some weekend and after hours' workwill be required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a computer related field with 3 years' experience as a Systems Administrator.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous work experience as a Systems Administrator; Previous experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Previous job experience with Enterprise VMware products such as vSphere and vCenter, Active Directory Windows Server 2012/2016, Nimble and Dell SANs, Exchange 2013 with Office 365 andVeeam backup. Previous experience with networking and telecommunications. Previous experience as a supervisor.
