Description:
Amherst College invites applicants for the Director of Facilities Operations position. The Director of Facilities Operations is a full time, year round position, job group and level AD-1. Direct the operational functions of the Facilities Department which includes the Building Trades, Electrical, Mechanical/Plumbing shops and the Energy Plant, the Service Center and the Energy Manager. Reports directly to the Chief of Campus Operations. Provide leadership and direction related to the operation, maintenance, repair and enhancement of the college's facilities and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Leads and manages 5 supervisors toward meeting the goals of the department.
- Oversees the Energy Manager to ensure energy conservation projects are identified and implemented. Ensures collaboration between the Energy Manager and the Shops.
- Manages the maintenance and operation of the campus infrastructure including electrical, water, steam, chilled water, drainage and sewer system while working closely with the IT Department on the telephone/data infrastructure.
- Coordinates departmental work management including maintenance schedules, procedures and practices, programs and customer service standards.
- Responsible for making technical decisions and for representing the departments’ and college’s interests on policy matters.
- Participates actively in the college’s energy procurement strategies and delivery, and broadly represents the college on sustainability efforts as it relates to the Operations Department.
