Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Late Night Programming Graduate Assistant position. This is a part-time, maximum of 10 hours per week, casual position for the remainder of the 2018 - 2019 academic year. The Late Night Programming Graduate Assistant within the Office of Student Life assists in the planning and execution of late night programs within the AC After Dark programming model. The Graduate Assistant works directly with the Associate Director of Student Life for Student Activities in the effective modeling of an alcohol-free activities program, the supervision of two (2) student lead programmers, and the allocation of co-sponsorship funds for registered student organizations through the program.
Key Responsibilities
Programming
- Work in conjunction with Lead Student Programs to build a robust calendar of AC After Dark events, focused on alcohol-free social options for students offered weekly on Friday and/or Saturday evenings.
- Collaborate with Student Life Marketing team in the establishment of a marketing plan for weekly AC After Dark events.
- Work as event manager for AC After Dark weekly events and requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Oversee the implementation of recurring Amherst Flicks Film Series.
Budgeting
- Oversee AC After Dark co-sponsorship processes and allocates funding accordingly for collaborative events with Registered Student Organizations.
- Assist the Associate Director of Student Life for Student Activities in the distribution of semesterly AC After Dark budget of $30,000.
Supervision of Student Workers
- Train, supervise, and assess two (2) Lead Student Programmer positions for the effective implementation of AC After Dark programming.
- Meet with Lead Student Programmers for one hour on a weekly basis to plan and assign duties as needed.
- Correspond with Student Life Marketing team and assigns duties for weekly promotional and advertising materials.
- Processes student employee payroll on a bimonthly basis with the aid of the Office of Student Life Administrative Assistant.
Assessment
- Generate comprehensive assessment model for the AC After Dark program to track attendance, student feedback, and impact of resources.
- Create and distribute semesterly survey to student body population with use of Qualtrics Survey Software.
Qualifications:
Required
- Must be currently enrolled in graduate school with an interest in higher education, administrative leadership, and/or related field.
- Valid driver’s license and successful credentialing is required in order to operate college vehicles specifically 7 and 12 passenger vans to transport students and staff to and from events, conferences, and trainings. Driving within the Amherst/Hadley/Northampton area for materials and/or events
- An understanding of the diverse communities and salient identities that the three Resource Centers serve
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Experience with Adobe, Publisher, or related software
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively
- Able to work programs/activities outside normal working hours
