Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Residential Life Programming Assistant position. The Residential Life Programming Assistant is a part-time, casual position without benefits.The Office of Residential Life works to create an inclusive, living and learning community through cultural, educational, and social programming that enhances the experiences of all student outside of the classroom. The Residential Life Programming Assistant will directly support two Community Development Coordinators (CDCs) with evening and weekend programming for their respective areas. The assistant takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Programming Support
- In conjunction with the Community Development Coordinators, assist with the creation of programming for Residential Life
- Promote events via email, posters, etc.
- Coordinate logistics including space, food, presenters and other event details
- Order supplies and materials
- Assist with set-up/break down of events
Office Support
- Maintain and update social media sites for the Office of Residential Life
- Assist with other events in Residential Life / Office of Student Affairs
Qualifications:
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
- Available for evening and weekend work (schedule varies but must be able to work evenings until 10 and weekends)
Preferred
- Bachelors Degree
- Demonstrated interest and experience with robust student programming on a college/university campus
- Experience working collaboratively with a diverse community
