Job Summary/Description |
Angelo State University’s David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering is seeking a dynamic and energetic structural engineering faculty to join our existing civil engineering faculty. The candidate’s expertise should be broadly based in the sub-discipline of structural engineering including, but not limited to: the analysis and design of buildings and bridges, and the properties and performance of construction materials. Successful candidates should expect to support courses in the Engineering Mechanics track including Statics, Dynamics, and Mechanics of Materials, as well as upper-level courses in Structural Engineering and Materials, particularly those related to their field of interest. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to teach service courses within the department as necessary. Angelo State is a teaching-focused, Hispanic Serving Institution and member of the Texas Tech University System. Currently, the civil engineering program has 203 majors and will graduate its first class of students in December 2018. The department is seeking ABET accreditation for the civil engineering program in 2019. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively to build a practice-oriented, integrated, broad-based civil engineering curriculum that is culturally relevant to our diverse student population. In addition, the candidate will be expected to actively participate in assessment duties that lead to ongoing curricular changes and improvements. This is a full time tenure-track, nine-month, Assistant Professor position. |
