Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The EMS Program Coordinator, in consultation with the Dean of Health Sciences, is responsible for developing the program from the initial EMS course for the preparation of Emergency Medical Technicians to the eventual offering of Paramedic course work as the program meets the required accrediting and licensing criteria. The EMS Program Coordinator will have responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the EMS program including, but not limited to, planning, developing, implementing, and assessing the program in accordance with state and federal guidelines as well as reviewing and maintaining the accuracy and appropriate instructional level of the content of each lecture and each practical demonstration offered within the program. The EMS Program Coordinator will also participate in the remediation of students, as necessary, and in consultation with the Dean of Health Sciences, is responsible for the selection and orientation of all specialty medical lecturers.
The EMS Program Coordinator must be certified as an Instructor Coordinator with the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services and must remain current on all aspects of pre-hospital care including relevant regulations, roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Technician.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Administration, organization, and instruction of the educational program.
- Continuous quality review, assessment, and improvement of the educational program.
- Assess and demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.
- Long-range planning and ongoing development of the program.
- Cooperative, constructive, and informed engagement with the College's designated EMS Medical Director.
- Pursue, maintain, and remediate all accrediting and licensing obligations of the EMS program, as needed.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Massachusetts OEMS Instructor Coordinator certification.
- Two years of experience instructing and evaluating EMS students.
- Current experience and expertise with the Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols.
- Field experience in the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care, academic training and preparation.
- Experience working with the Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services system.
- Knowledge of current national curriculum, national registration, and the requirements for National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and state certification or licensure.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional development in teaching at the community college level.
- Experience using evidence based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
- Teaching experience using learning systems to support and improve instruction.
- Appreciation for and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Full-time MCCC Unit position. Average salary range of $44,874 to $65,428. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Position includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program.
