Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The College is seeking an experienced firefighter to implement the Fire Science Program for Academic year 2018-2019.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Implement the Fire Science Program and provide assistance to students as they navigate the courses within the Program.
- Assess effectiveness of the Fire Science Program.
- Hold information sessions minimally two times per semester to recruit students.
- Assist in preparing semester schedules for all Fire Science Program course offerings.
- Review and update Fire Science curriculum, guiding changes through departmental processes and curriculum and programs review.
- Supervise the development of instructional materials and assist in assessing the effectiveness of the instructional program.
- Update printed and published materials including the course listings in the College catalog.
- Assist the Department Chair and Dean regarding budgeting issues.
- Provide support to students in the Fire Science Program.
- Serve as liaison between the College's Fire Science Program, adjunct faculty in the Fire Science Program, and the fire science community.
- Develop and prepare for submission all reports and FESHE materials required by governing or accrediting agencies.
- Complete a written Fire Science Self Study Report to be submitted to the Dean at the end of the semester.
- Meet with advisory committees each semester which support or contribute to the instructional program.
- Facilitate communication and cooperation with other program areas and/or departments, learning services, student services, and administrative services within the college.
- Report on program goals and achievements at the end of the semester.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Seven years of professional experience as a firefighter.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Prior experience teaching at the community college level.
- Commitment to supporting a diverse college community, both inside the classroom and outside.
Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $1,836.06 per semester. Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit position.
