Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Funeral Service Instructor will teach classroom and clinical curriculum according to ABFSE accreditation requirements.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
- Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use.
- Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Maintain current and active licenses with Massachusetts's Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.
- Five years' current practice experience in the field of funeral service/embalming.
- Skill in implementing active and collaborative learning strategies.
- Skill in measuring student learning outcomes and assessments, evaluating course efficacy, and improving student learning.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned Master's degree.
- Prior college-level teaching experience in an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.
- Evidence of innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom, and use of learning management systems.
- Experience, appreciation, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting and to the mission and the goals of a community college.
Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale. Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit Position.
