About Central College:
Founded in 1853, Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college known for its academic rigor and strength in global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), sustainability education, athletics success and tradition, and leadership and service. Job Description:
Responsible to the Director of Admission for recruiting prospective students in an assigned territory.
Hours: Part-time position - 20 hrs. per week with scheduling flexibility.
Essential Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Arrange and execute a schedule of personal visits to secondary schools.
- Initiate and maintain communications with prospective students
- Disseminate information about the college's programs through a variety of channels and to a variety of constituents including, but not limited to high school visits, home visits, college day/night programs, conventions, conferences, in person, by telephone, and by mail.
- Assist with on and off campus special events including, but not limited to individual and large groups, visit events on campus, receptions, recruitment phonathons, workshops, conferences, pre-registration and orientation activities.
- Monitor admission and financial assistance application status for prospective students and families, and provide appropriate counsel through both processes.
- Conduct ongoing research to maximize territory towards goals.
- Direct recruitment activities of admission student employees.
- Conduct walking campus tours.
- Assist with mailing projects.
- Represent the college at professional/social events as requested.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications: Requirements include a bachelor's degree, extraordinary communication and interpersonal skills, an eagerness to work intelligently, efficiently, and persuasively to meet enrollment objectives; demonstrated success in team building; the capacity to interact effectively with the broad range of constituencies served by the college, and willingness to support the mission of Central College as a liberal arts college in the Christian tradition; the ability to travel (ground and air). Weekend and evening commitments including, but not limited to special events, evening phone contact and professional development opportunities.
