Job Description:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, tenure-line appointment beginning August 2018.
QUALIFICATIONS:Central College seeks dynamic candidates with a doctorate in an athletic-training applicable field (human physiology, human movement, kinesiology, athletic training, or physical therapy) for a tenure-line assistant professor position. Candidates must have BOC-certification as an Athletic Trainer and be eligible for athletic training licensure in the State of Iowa. Candidates with experience working within a CAATE program and supervision of students are especially encouraged to apply. Our new colleague will be expected to teach clinical courses in athletic training and some combination of human physiology, human movement, or kinesiology. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose interests span athletic training and human movement (biomechanics and motor learning).
DEPARTMENT OF EXERCISE SCIENCE: The Exercise Science department offers an exercise science major with programs in physical education; health promotion; strength and conditioning; health and exercise science. Central's athletic training program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, offers educational experiences that prepare students to sit for the Board of Certification exam and attend top graduate programs across the nation. 85% of recent graduates have earned Board Certification. 99% of recent graduates are attending top graduate programs in related fields or working in the field. In collaboration with faculty and healthcare professionals, athletic training majors learn to master competencies and clinical proficiencies within a liberal arts framework. The Exercise Science department at Central College attracts students from across the country and is a central player in a newly forged collaboration with Bangor University in Wales.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. (ABD may apply) andmust have BOC-certification as an Athletic Trainer and be eligible for athletic training licensure in the State of Iowa.
