The Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES) at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Biosystems Engineering program at the Assistant Professor level commencing with the fall 2019 semester. The successful candidate is expected to develop internationally recognized and externally funded research in support of program emphasis areas in sustainable bioprocessing and ecological engineering. Research areas may include a biosystems approach to the food, water, energy nexus; food process engineering; sustainable engineering for food and agriculture; ecosystem restoration and modeling; biological carbon sequestration; biorefinery engineering for biofuels and biomaterials; biosensors; bioprocess modeling; or similar fields. The candidate will advise MS and PhD students in their specialty area. Excellent opportunities exist for collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences and other academic units on campus. The successful candidate is also expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, incorporating elements of their research areas into the classroom environment. Development of new courses will also be encouraged. Candidates should demonstrate potential for high-quality, effective teaching and mentoring.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have earned a PhD in Biosystems Engineering or a closely related discipline.
