Location:
Clemson, SC
Open Date:
Oct 1, 2018
Description:
The College of Education at Clemson University seeks a tenure-track faculty in Science Education at the Assistant or Associate level with an emphasis in secondary science beginning Fall Semester 2019. The new faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in science education (primarily in secondary science), advise graduate students in their research, develop and maintain an active scholarly research agenda, participate in external research and grant activities, and help support the work of science teachers in the state.
Please see http://www.clemson.edu/education/ for more information.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Science Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field. Substantive science teaching experience in grades 6-12.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three years science teaching experience at the high school level. Because our program features dual majors in secondary science and biology, chemistry, or physics, content knowledge in science is critical. We welcome applications from scholars whose instructional experiences span grade levels from elementary, middle, to secondary. Additionally, preference will be given to scholars who have instructional experiences with STEM/STEAM at any grade level. The Associate Professor rank is commensurate with years of scholarship, strong record of research, and success in obtaining external grant funding. In alignment with the College of Education’s mission, successful applicants should have an interest in actively engaging with underperforming schools and underserved communities across the nation and state.
Application Instructions:
To apply, upload a letter of application, curriculum vita, unofficial transcripts, sample of scholarly writing, and contact information for three references to Interfolio.
Inquiries may be addressed to Dr. Megan Che, search committee chair at sche@clemson.edu.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. For best consideration, applications should be submitted by November 15, 2018. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
