Commitment to Diversity:

The President's Statement

"The College of New Jersey’s commitment to educational excellence that embraces the principles of diversity and inclusion is an integral part of our mission.  This commitment is amplified because New Jersey is one of the most diverse states in the nation.  As a first-rate public institution, we are committed to training our students to excel in diverse environments and to making our community and campus spaces inclusive and welcoming to people from all backgrounds.  We are continuing to build upon our commitment to diversity by improving the recruitment and retention of students, faculty and staff from underrepresented populations.People from all backgrounds enrich our academic programs and campus experience and enhance our ability to be innovative and relevant to the needs of our internal and external communities.  Diversity adds perspective and depth to our vision and thereby improves our results."

Diversity Resources:

The Office of Institutional Diversity - provides institutional leadership in enhancing respectful, diverse and inclusive work and learning environments at The College of New Jersey Community. OID serves as a partner with all campus offices as each area makes its unique contribution to the overall inclusivity of the campus community. OID provides a range of services that foster the values of equity and diversity, as well as support compliance efforts in the areas of equal opportunity, affirmative action and harassment prevention.

Diversity Workshop - The College of New Jersey has as a central component of its mission a commitment to promote understanding across traditional ethnic and gender boundaries, and to foster an appreciation of diversity amongst its students and employees. As an outgrowth to this commitment, The College requires all new employees to attend a half-day diversity workshop within the first year of their employment. The workshop, which is facilitated by members of The College’s faculty and staff, engages participants in an examination of applicable policies, procedures, and ethics, and includes discussion of current issues impacting diversity on college campuses.

The Career Center Resources - Resources for student and alumni who are interested in applying for diversified employment opportunities.
