Basic Function |
Provide analysis, design, and programming support for Institutional Advancement enterprise applications including but not limited to Oracle-based Ellucian Banner ERP and aid in the implementation process of a new Institutional Advancement CRM (data cleanup, data mapping, implementation, and testing) |
Essential Job Functions |
Implementation Services: Aid in the process of implementing a new CRM solution for Institutional Advancement. Serve as the primary programmer/analyst for the new CRM implementation. Perform data cleanup and mapping processes, provide input in the selection process, and aid in the implementation and integration of the new system with Banner. Analysis: Analyze and identify user needs and develop and implement effective solutions to meet user requirements. Maintain current knowledge of the features of the Banner software and Denison modifications, and evaluate user needs in relationship to the features provided in the current Denison software set to be able to recommend Banner features and identify gaps requiring other software. Identify and implement techniques which will improve productivity for the user community Software Development and Maintenance: Design effective solutions that may be based on either purchased software or Denison-developed software. Develop administrative applications and identify areas amenable for system enhancements; design, write, test, and document new applications and features; develop database triggers, functions, and procedures as needed, and implement purchased solutions where appropriate. Maintain software functionality: maintain data integrity for assigned systems and in compliance with campus-wide data governance processes; install, test, and implement vendor upgrades and patches in conjunction with the supported user community; maintain Denison modifications. Collaboration and Documentation: Adhere to institutional change management/change control practices. Document all proposed changes, validate changes in test instances with ITS cooperation, and coordinate any changes to production systems with ITS resources, and during pre-approved campus maintenance windows. Track all work in the ITS development KanBan to assure project dependencies are identified. Coordinate with the Data Governance team on any proposed changes to the institutional data dictionary or potential data-dependency implications. Maintain effective communication with peer-level programmers in ITS regarding system updates, integration projects, and proposed process changes. Confer and coordinate with BI team on any potential changes to historical reports due to changes to updated data schemas. Data Support: Develop and maintain the back-end processes to support data and needs for the continuous development of reports and dashboards for a Cognos reporting environment. Support products using business intelligence concepts of data models (Ellucian’s ODS), enhanced query capabilities, dashboards, and performance metrics. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues with Banner and other related enterprise software, reconcile users’ data and processing problems and coordinate inter-office projects and data dependency issues. Resolve issues to the satisfaction of the requestor. Performs related work as required or assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Associate’s Degree and five years of work related experience. Must be familiar with database concepts, advanced SQL programming beyond queries, and integrating third-party software solutions with Systems of Record (both on premises and cloud-hosted). Experience and conceptual understanding of the project life cycle process. Ability to handle multiple tasks under the pressure of tight deadlines; ability to work and learn independently; good communication skills; apply sound project management processes toward all tasks; display initiative and self- motivation. Previous experience on a higher education Institutional Advancement programming team, or commensurate experience with other mid-size non-profit fundraising organizations. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience with higher-ed advancement solutions: (Ellucian’s Banner Advancement preferred). Experience with SQL and PL/SQL. Experience with IBM Cognos, data warehousing, Linux, and Oracle technologies. Experience with modern fundraising CRM products and business processes is highly desired. |
