Position Title | Assistant Professor of Cinema |
Job Summary and Requirements |
The Department of Cinema seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall of 2019. Responsibilities include teaching all aspects of 16mm film and digital production, from conception through post-production, at introductory through advanced levels. The successful candidate will be an active filmmaker with an exceptional record of teaching both technical and artistic filmmaking skills to undergraduate students. The Department of Cinema is part of the University’s Division of Fine Arts. As such, our curriculum emphasizes artistry and conceptual sophistication as much as technical craft. The department’s curriculum also integrates film/digital production and cinema studies, and actively encourages students to draw connections between the two fields. Each course in our core film/digital production sequence encompasses the entire filmmaking process rather than focusing on a specific role or phase of motion picture production. This fosters a mindset whereby students think of their work in terms of overarching artistic vision rather than technical specializa |
