Title: Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy

Position Summary
Dominican University of California is seeking a dynamic candidate for a 9-month, full-time tenure-track or renewable term position beginning in August 2019. Suitable candidate must have a minimum of three to five years of clinical experience, prior teaching experience (preferred), and for the tenure track position, an earned post-professional doctoral degree with potential for scholarly and research endeavors are required. Entry level-degree may be considered with a strong track record of scholarship and/or academic experience. A doctoral degree is preferred for Term Faculty applicants. The successful candidate may teach courses related to either physical disabilities and/or foundational OT courses across the curriculum, advise students, and engage in department and university service. For tenure-track position, the successful candidate must maintain an active scholarly agenda, and may mentor capstone projects.
The occupational therapy department offers two academic tracks: a five-year BS/MS track and a three-year entry-level master’s track. Our curriculum design emphasizes psychosocial aspects of occupation, community-focused practice, and wellness and health promotion. We are seeking individuals who are committed to promoting innovative, community-focused occupational therapy practice in a friendly, team-oriented department. All course materials have been fully developed, and mentoring is available for new faculty.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate OT courses across the curriculum
- Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
- Maintain office hours, supervision of students and academic advising
- Participate in service to the department and attend and contribute to faculty meetings, conference calls and other professional development activities
- Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
For Tenure-Track Additional Responsibilities are:
- Participate in curriculum development and departmental governance
- Maintain an active agenda of scholarship and research
- Contribute to the university through participation on faculty committees and attending university functions
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of clinical experience.
- For Tenure –Track Position, a Post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related field
- For Term position, a Masters in Occupational Therapy or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior college level teaching experience
- For Term position a Doctoral degree in occupational therapy (either post professional or entry-level) or related field,
- Experience in/with research and scholarship or clinical enterprise in physical disabilities or rehabilitation
Additional Position Information
- Priority will be given to applications submitted by January 31, 2018; however additional applications may be considered until the position is filled
- Must be eligible for and obtain a California occupational therapy license
- Must be willing to consent to a background check
