Title: Assistant/Associate Professor, Strategic or Health Communication

Position Summary
The Department of Communication and Media Studies at Dominican University of California invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position with a research focus in strategic, health, or mass communication to begin August 2019. This is a full-time, 9-month position. The successful candidate will serve as department chair beginning 2020. We are looking for a leader who understands the rapidly changing field of communication and who will grow the department and student enrollment. We welcome candidates dedicated to providing all students a rich learning experience including community engagement, digital portfolios, and signature work, what we call the Dominican Experience.
Responsibilities
- Ability to teach in a range of strategic communication courses which may include health communication, qualitative research methods, writing for digital and social media, and conflict resolution
- Ability to work effectively with ethnically and racially diverse populations
- Record of successful peer-reviewed publication in strategic or health communication
- Evidence or demonstrated potential for leadership in academic program development
Required Qualifications
- Earned PhD in strategic communication, health communication, mass communication, or related field is required. (ABD candidates will NOT be considered)
- Minimum three-years undergraduate teaching experience
