Position Summary:
Dominican University of California is seeking an individual for a Facility and Athletic Communications Manager position. Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities, the Facility and Athletic Communications Manager will perform a wide variety of program coordination and administrative duties to support the day-to-day operations of the Allen Athletic Sports Complex, Dominican’s athletics events, and summer camp activities. Additionally, this position will assist the Associate Athletic Director of Communications & Game Operations with all aspects of running the sports information office, including, but not limited to, promoting, publicizing, and reporting on all athletic events and competitions. A successful candidate will have strong writing skills, experience with web site development/maintenance, and knowledge of sport statistical software.
Responsibilities:
Facility Manager
- Inputs all athletics facility reservations into Dominican’s central calendar system
- Create and distribute communications to members regarding events at Conlan Recreation Center
- Assist with external facility rentals
- Help create, schedule and direct all marketing materials for summer camps
- Assist with summer camp staff recruitment
- Assist with human resource and payroll functions
- Manage website and enrollment via Thriva Database
- Manage staff training and first-aid sessions for staff
- Facilitate all customer service inquires for summer camps
- Initiate and host community outreach groups at collegiate sporting events
- Host and supervise guest relations during day-of-game events
- Plan, organize and execute halftime promotions and in game elements
Athletic Communications
- Assists with all intercollegiate game statistics
- Reports game statistics to NCAA Statistics and Pacific West Conference
- Produces and procures Athletics marketing materials, such as brochures, pocket schedules, and posters
- Design and implement promotional and marketing strategies to increase attendance and enhance awareness of athletic events and sports programs
- Helps manage Athletics website, including updates of results, press releases, schedules, and rosters
- Assist in maintenance of athletic department statistics, records, and photo archives.
- Attends home/away games as assigned
- Assists in the marketing and advertising of special events
- Help recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student statistical crews for athletic events
- Help manage and create content for social media outlets
- Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working in an athletics environment
- Experience working as a camp coach or supervisor
- Experience supervising children
- Successful sports information experience working at the college level
- Ability to work with others and meet deadlines
- Website (creating, editing, updating) experience
- Media relations and home event management experience
- Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient with Database software
- Familiar with design software (Adobe Creative)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions ; Uses equipment and materials properly
- Current driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required
