Organizational Unit Overview |
The Department of Physics at East Carolina University offers BS and MS degrees in physics and the PhD degree in biomedical physics. The MS program in medical physics is CAMPEP accredited. There are active theoretical, experimental and computational research programs with an emphasis on biomedical applications of optics, spectroscopy, and ionizing radiation. East Carolina University (ECU), a public doctoral degree granting institution with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students, is the third-largest member of the 17-campus University of North Carolina system. ECU is located in the coastal region of North Carolina in Greenville, a rapidly growing city of more than 90,000. The Department of Physics, with 18 full-time faculty members, is one of sixteen departments in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences. |
Job Duties |
The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning 13 August 2018. We seek candidates to establish a vigorous, independent and externally funded research program in biomedical physics. The successful applicant will teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and service to the university, community, and profession is expected. Candidates whose research complements existing research programs in the Department are encouraged to apply. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
A PhD in physics or an equivalent degree and at least one year of relevant postdoctoral research experience are required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. The appointment is expected to be at the rank of assistant professor; however, exceptionally qualified candidates with active funding may be considered for appointment at a higher academic rank. |
