SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Assistant Director, Student Life is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive student activities program that supports a campus environment that is welcoming, safe and supportive for our ever-growing campus community. The successful candidate will develop and implement a wide range of student activities and programs to enhance social, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for all students at Florida Polytechnic University.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the University’s educational, social and cultural student activities programs.
· Effectively build and oversee a student leadership development program that emphasizes on inclusiveness, skills enhancement, personal and professional development.
· Work alongside the Director of Student Development on issues pertaining to students.
· Develop, plan, implement, and assess all student transition programs and initiatives.
· Serve as a Hearing Officer for student conduct cases.
· Assist in the creation, implementation and evaluation of assessment activities and student learning outcomes for the division of Student Development.
· Work with Registered Student Organizations on planning, implementing, advising and developing events.
· Assists in the planning, vision, and organizational structure of the Office Student Development with the Director.
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· A general knowledge of the personal, social, and academic challenges encountered by STEM students.
· Demonstrated creativity and enthusiasm for engaging the entire student body including part-time, full-time, commuter and residential students is required. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working with a diverse community. Experience with clubs, organization and leadership development is a plus.
· Must possess strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
· Excellent customer service experience, including ability to represent the university and its interests in a professional and conscientious manner.
· Strong communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
· Demonstrated ability in prioritizing workload, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be detail-oriented.
· Proven record of being able to utilize effective time management, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail while performing multiple duties, often under stress.
· Must possess a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute complex events; experience advising, or prior significant leadership roles in student organizations, student leadership development programs, community service initiatives, SGA, or Greek-letter organizations.
· Demonstrated proficiency with current technology and social networking platforms to advertise programs that reach the student body.
· Proven record of innovative and strategic thinking as well as a passion for building and adapting programs to meet the changing needs of today's STEM students.
· Willingness and ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
· Ability to handle crises and sensitive topics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
· At least 3 years of progressively responsible and successful leadership roles in student development in higher education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling and executing events on a large scale.
· 3 – 5 years of experience in managing student development programming in higher education.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. Normal work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., however, overtime (weekends and evenings) will be required.
TARGET HIRING SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
