Job Description Summary
Florida’s only public university exclusively teaching science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is looking for exceptional candidates to serve as the Associate Director, Career Development, in Student Support Services.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provides direct support of all students, alumni, and employer clients in the development of career education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment opportunities commensurate with formal academic pursuits. Continually expands the client/user base and scope of services to ensure provision of the widest array of services possible to the broadest mix of academic and corporate clients.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides career counseling and referrals to assist students with the career development process;
· Provides career planning assistance through appointments with individuals, online assistance, and regularly scheduled workshops with groups;
· Provides instruction to career planning in select courses;
· Establishes and maintains effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers and the public.
· Assists students and alumni with career development and planning process, including obtaining information on companies, current opportunities for employment and hiring practices, and making the transition from school to career;
· Plans and implements job fairs and on-campus recruiting events;
· Distributes information on internships, summer jobs and local jobs;
· Provides and updates computer software and library resources;
· Counsels students about graduate school choices and admission;
· Maintains online recruitment system and works closely with webmaster to maintain/update career services website;
· Prepares regular reports;
· Collects and analyzes research data relevant to career planning and placement of students and alumni;
· Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· A minimum of five years of combined university career services and/or corporate recruitment management is preferred.
· Knowledge and capabilities necessary include career-counseling techniques, knowledge of job trends and career development skills, effective public relations and networking abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· An understanding of the principles of college student development and the policies and structure of a typical four-year, public university is preferred.
· This employee must be able to effectively direct existing career programs, and have the aptitude to develop new ones on his/her own initiative.
· Dependability, creativity, good judgment, professionalism, and dedication to sound principles of student development are paramount among necessary characteristics for this position.
· Disposition and proven work ethic to handle busy work cycles that include evenings and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in a discipline directly related to staffing, employment, career development and planning, or other human resources concern. Academic preparation in a student counseling discipline will be considered if supported by directly related employer college relations, recruitment, or staffing experience.
· 5 years’ experience working in a professional HR position or University Career Services department.
· Demonstrated professionalism and ability to effectively interface with employers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master's degree in a discipline directly related to staffing, employment, career development and planning, or other human resources concern.
· Experience using Handshake.
· Experience using Salesforce.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.
TARGET HIRING SALARY: $58,140 - $61,490, commensurate with experience.
