Job Description Summary
The Student Life Coordinator is a full-time staff employee under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Services. The successful candidate will develop, promote, supervise, manage, implement, and evaluate recreation, fitness, and intramural activities. This includes a wide range of leagues, tournaments, competitions and events, group fitness and facilities operations.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and overall management, development and administration of broad-based programs of fitness and recreational programming and initiatives, including outdoor recreation trips, intramurals, training programs, fitness classes and facility management.
- Manage the day to day operation of the fitness center, including, maintain all fitness equipment including free weights, functional, cardiovascular, and group fitness.
- Assist the Director of Student Services in the development of the risk management plan and implement practices to minimize risk to ensure that students and participants adhere to the policies and procedures associated with the safety of the program.
- Assist the Director of Student Services in building a student staff to perform daily operation of recreation rentals, fitness center, recreation trips and intramural programming.
- Develop, coordinate and manage recreation and fitness marketing plans in conjunction with the Director of Student Services and the Marketing and Communications Department, including design of recreation and fitness informational flyers, bulletin boards, incentive programs and special events. - Gather program metrics; evaluates and reports program effectiveness and makes recommendations for future programming within scope of position. Maintain records, prepare and analyze statistical reports, evaluations, participant surveys, and data.
- Contributes to the overall success of Campus Life by performing all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proven record of innovative and strategic thinking as well as a passion for building and adapting programs to meet the changing needs of today's STEM students.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with planning, organizing, and coordinating college or university recreation, intramural, fitness and athletic programs.
- Strong teaching and presentation skills
- Proven record of being able to utilize effective time management, organization, prioritization, and execute complex events with strong attention to detail while performing multiple duties, in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, focused on customer service and strong communication skills with highly diverse population.
- Demonstrated proficiency with current technology and social networking platforms to advertise programs that reach the student body.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience at the collegiate level in the organization, administration, and supervision of fitness programs and facilities is preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, and own transportation.
- This position requires a criminal background check.
- This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Fitness Certifications a plus.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- This position is non-exempt (hourly).
- The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday and time will vary as follows: 3 days 12:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.; 2 days 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Occasional weekends and extend evenings may be required, depending on department needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants applying for this position should be able to handle extensive standing, walking for extended periods of time, repetition, pushing, pulling, moving and be able to lift 50 pounds.
TARGET HIRING SALARY: $17.32 - $18.50/hr., commensurate with experience.
