In the spring of 2005, the Georgia Legislature and the Board of Regents approved a bold and progressive plan to create the first new state college in Georgia since 1970. Located in the north metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia Gwinnett College opened its doors in Fall 2006. GGC, a part of the University System of Georgia, is a high tech, four-year institution, built on the foundation of innovation, creativity, and faculty who care deeply about student learning. Flexible scheduling, traditional classroom courses and hybrid classes provide different learning experiences for students.

Georgia Gwinnett College provides access to targeted baccalaureate-level degrees that meet the economic development needs of the growing and diverse population of the northeast Atlanta metropolitan region. It emphasizes the innovative use of technology and active-learning environments to provide its students enhanced learning experiences, practical opportunities to apply knowledge, increased scheduling flexibility, and a variety of course delivery options.

Georgia Gwinnett’s outstanding faculty and staff actively engage students in various learning environments, serve as mentors and advisors, and assist students in programs designed to enhance their academic, social, and personal development.

GGC produces contributing citizens and future leaders for Georgia and the nation. Its graduates are inspired to contribute to the local, state, national, and international communities, and are prepared to anticipate and respond effectively to an uncertain and changing world.

All classrooms feature Smart software where student education is facilitated by advanced digital systems. Learning is aided via a seamless extension of the classroom available across the campus or across the world, using educational and information technology platforms.

At present, GGC offers degree programs in Biology, Business and Psychology. Starting Fall 2007, a degree in Information Technology will also be offered. A total of seven programs have been approved to date by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents. These include: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a major in Biology, B.S. with a major in Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) with a major in Early Childhood Education (including eligibility for certification in Special Education), Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) with a major in Technology Management, Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) with a major in General Business or Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology (B.S.R.T.), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.).
