Description
This position is within the Renovations Department of Facilities Management Service.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:45 pm. Employee may be required to work on a different schedule with advance notice.
Work involves the construction of structural woodwork, cabinets, bookcases, and other woodwork requiring the use of standard carpenter tools and power driven machinery.
Duties:
- Perform all construction and renovations duties in accordance with departmental standards and applicable code in order to avoid violations of building or fire code. Constructs walls by performing lay out in accordance with plans or sketches primarily with metal studs or wood framing, hanging of drywall or other wall finishes and finishing drywall sheetrock.
- Install suspend ceilings per plans or sketches. Install ceiling tiles by cutting and kerfind as required.
- Install accessories such as mirrors, handicapped bars, soap dispensers, towel cabinets, white boards, signs, etc.
- Install door frames, doors, door locks, and all types of door hardware.
- Demolish partitions, doors, frames, cabinets ceiling, etc. Move various type of materials around campus and or job site. Maintain work area organized and keep job site clean as project going on.
- Assist other trades such as Cabinet Makers, Painters, Electricians and Trades Helper in renovation projects.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
Technical or vocational degree and one year of related experience; or a high school diploma or GED and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
