Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Marise Parent in the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University (sites.gsu.edu/parentlab). We are looking for a talented and energetic postdoctoral researcher interested in using optogenetics, pharmacological approaches, and genetic manipulations to investigate how neural mechanisms critical for memory and synaptic plasticity control ingestive behavior in rodents, and how these neural controls are impacted by obesity and other pathological conditions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in molecular, anatomical and/or behavioral approaches and interest in the neurobiology of memory or ingestive behavior. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of successful research (evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals), effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to get along well with others. Applicants must have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field or be in the process of completing their PhD within the next six months. This position is funded by an NIH grant, which is is available for at least 2 years, will be paid at a salary rate commensurate with years of postdoctoral experience plus benefits per NIH Fiscal Year 2018 budgetary levels.
