More than 500 administrative staff members serve the Colleges and the students here — from deans and directors to food service workers, from housekeeping staff to secretaries and other office personnel.

The faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges prides itself on teaching, scholarship, research, and community involvement. Nearly all faculty members have earned the terminal degree in their field and each faculty member teaches all his or her own classes-there are no teaching assistants substituting for the faculty member.

Students are frequent guests at professors' homes and at tables in the campus dining hall. They often spend long hours mentoring students outside the classroom — on research projects, Honors projects, and other scholarship. They arrange for visiting speakers, attend campus events, and donate time to community service activities.
