Job Description: | TRAINING: Participate in on-going training including staff meetings, statewide trainings, annual conferences and approved workshops and seminars in order to improve nutrition knowledge, teaching methodology and record keeping skills. Reviewed quarterly by the EFNEP supervisor to ensure that nutrition knowledge and skills are up to date.
RECRUITING: Encourage low-income homemakers to enroll in EFNEP through various recruiting opportunities such as demonstrations, group presentations, individual contacts and/or distribution of printed materials. Make contact and maintain collaborative relationships with other agencies in order to recruit clients and expand the program. Reviewed monthly by supervisor to ensure that caseload is at an appropriate number. PREPARATION: Administer the 24-hour food recall and behavior checklist to newly enrolled homemakers in order to assess dietary behavior and needs. Plan appropriate learning experiences for enrolled EFNEP homemakers on the basis of the 24-hour food recall and behavior checklist in order to improve dietary knowledge and behavior. Plan appropriate lessons for youth. Reviewed monthly by supervisor to ensure that teaching outcomes are being met. RECORD KEEPING: Submit accurate, timely records and reports on a daily/weekly basis in order to record nutrition assistant program activities. Enter client records into the ERS computer data files. Reviewed monthly by supervisor to prepare reports for state office. TEACHING: Provide nutrition education to low-income homemakers in food and nutrition related subject matter by using group and/or individual delivery methods in order to improve dietary knowledge and behavior. Reviewed quarterly by supervisor to reinforce strengths and identify training needs. Make appropriate referrals to eligible homemakers of other services and government assistance programs. Required Minimum Qualifications: | High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of low resource audience, interpersonal/relationship skills, computer skills, nutrition/cooking skills, communication skills. |
