General Description of Position: | Kansas State University, School of Family Studies and Human Services, is seeking a full-time Project Director with strategic leadership abilities and excellent organization and oral/written communication skills to provide leadership for the 4-H Military Partnership Project. This person will collaborate with USDA program leaders and Military Services child and youth programs staff at the Headquarters level to support Land Grant Universities in providing 4-H positive youth development programming for military connected youth. This person will be responsible for writing grant proposals, developing requests for applications (RFA), managing sub-awards, and developing evaluation components for the project. A master’s degree in family science, human development, youth development, family and consumer sciences, or related fields and 5-10 years of relevant experience is required. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Grant writing, reporting, and RFA development is beneficial. Knowledge of the Cooperative Extension System and 4-H youth development is essential.
Occasional travel is required for national meetings, trainings, and conferences. This is a 12-month term appointment and is contingent upon funding. |

Job Description: | - The Project Director is responsible for leading and facilitating all aspects of the 4-H Military Partnership Project including writing and submitting grant proposals, completing progress and final reports, supervising project staff, collaborating with Extension 4-H faculty at Land Grant Universities, and communicating with USDA program leaders and Military Services Headquarters staff.
- The Project Director manages the complete RFA process for the sub-awards to Land Grant Universities and collaborates with the Extension 4-H Military Liaisons at the universities. - The Project Director supports the scholarly development of curriculum and coordinates appropriate professional development for military child and youth program staff and Extension 4-H staff. - The Project Director manages the evaluation and reporting for all aspects of the project. - The Project Director facilitates special projects for the military in collaboration with university faculty in other disciplines. |

Information about the School and College: | The K-State School of Family Studies and Human Services is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals and families. The School is one of seven academic units in the College of Human Ecology and consists of nine units each with lead coordinators: Communication Sciences and Disorders, Conflict Resolution, Couple and Family Therapy, Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Science, Life Span Human Development, Personal Financial Planning, and Family Studies and Human Services Extension. The School is extensively involved in distance education at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels and through certificate programs. Faculty, staff and supervised students provide direct services and outreach to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals and families through an early childhood laboratory school, a speech and hearing clinic, a couple and family therapy clinic, a financial therapy clinic, and a community mediation services program.
