The Successful Candidate will: |
Duties / Responsibilities: Nursing care for clinic outpatients. Provides professional nursing care in accordance with recognized nursing techniques, procedures, physician's orders, and administrative policies, to outpatients. This is done by:
Productive, Independent Work, Team Cooperation Works independently and cooperatively with all health team members in order to effectively carry out responsibilities of the RN by utilizing good communication skills with patients and staff, maintaining confidentiality, adhering to the dress code, maintaining work areas by restocking and cleaning frequently, following organizational chart for problem resolution and completing assignments as made by the supervisor. Works weekends in rotation with other nurses as needed. The RN will utilize leadership abilities to guide the LPNs and service assistants working in the same assigned area. Assignment may include rotation to any area of Lafene assigned by supervisor in which the RN has received orientation and for which RN coverage is appropriate. Functions in leadership role by working as charge clinic coordinator assuring appropriate and efficient client flow through coordination of clinical and support staff in a cooperative effort. Record Keeping Documents nursing history, clinical data, doctor's orders, patient response to treatment and/or understanding of instructions given, and other objective findings in order to furnish written evidence of everything done for the patient while being treated by the health care team. This is done to ensure continuity of care, to communicate with other professionals, to provide legal record and to furnish information for review, study, and evaluation in an audit. Professional Updating Attends continuing education offerings, continually reviewing current professional literature/journals. This is done to ensure that staff is prepared with the most current health care information available and to improve the quality of nursing care to clients. Quality Management Participates in achievement of organizational goals of excellence of service through the principles of quality management by involvement in quality management studies, peer reviews, and displays positive customer relations skills in order to ensure appropriate interaction with clients and staff. |
Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas.

Preferred Qualifications: |
Knowledge of professional nursing theory & practices, nursing assessment skills, demonstrate practical application of nursing theory and techniques to specific patient treatment situations, able to follow oral & written instructions in detail, prepare nursing care plans and maintain records, charts and reports. Possess exceptional problem solving and communication skills. Have the ability to deal with confidential matters between clients and/or staff and be able to maintain that confidentiality appropriately. Experience using a personal computer. Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing. 2-3 years experience in performing health assessments. 2-3 years experience in executing organizational policy, goals or objectives. |
Other Requirements: |
At the time of appointment the selected employee must possess a Kansas licensure/temporary permit, or be given authority to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Must comply with Kansas Board of Nursing requirements for licensing renewal, i.e., provide proof of participation in at least 30 hours of continuing education every two (2) years, complete application and submit fee. Possess current CPR certification upon employment and update every two years. Mandatory participation in continuing education courses and in-service sessions in order to continually update nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities. Mobility to move about the general clinic rapidly, standing for several hours performing nursing functions in confined spaces. Manual dexterity to give injections and other duties requiring fine motor skills. Assist clients who are fainting by giving physical support to prevent injury and/or to assist in lifting or moving a client. Physical ability to perform BLS as necessary until relieved by other staff or paramedics.
