Web Writer & Digital Content SpecialistLawrence University’s Office of Communications seeks a strategic and creative individual to serve in the newly created role of Web Writer & Content Specialist. This new position will serve as the key content manager and creator for the University’s website, as well as other University-wide digital communications. Working with members of the Communications team and other key University departments, the Web Writer & Content Specialist will create engaging and compelling web content to enhance the University’s web presence and effectively tell the Lawrence story in compelling and broad-reaching ways, raising Lawrence’s visibility and reputation as a college and music conservatory of international renown.
Goals for the Web Writer & Content Strategist
- Collaborate with campus offices and departments to write and edit engaging and accurate web content, including the creation of new pages or sections.
- Review content across the University’s website to initiate updates to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of content and consistency with University-wide guidelines and strategies.
- Ensure that the University’s web presence reflects current digital trends, provides an engaging user experience, and capitalizes on best practices.
Essential duties
- Write and edit website and other digital content as needed, including e-newsletters.
- Establish collaborative partnerships with on-campus constituencies, including the University’s development team in Information Technology Services.
- Stay current with current digital and multimedia trends and best practices.
- Use web analytics to inform decisions about content development and promotion.

Essential skills, experiences and mindsets
- Demonstrated communications skills, including online editing and writing skills
- Experience with and ability to use content management tools
- Strong interest and knowledge in web-based communications
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
- Experience using Google Analytics and other enterprise tools to assess the success of web content
- Digital design sensibility and knowledge-base, including basic understanding of visual production and editing software, including Adobe Creative Suite
- Demonstrated ability to write with user experience in mind
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Collaboration with and advisement of on-campus constituencies, including faculty, staff, and students, on the best practices of digital communications

- Bachelor’s degree and progressively responsible web content/digital communications experience.
