metropolitan_college_of_new_york3.jpgMetropolitan College of New York (MCNY) is located in the Soho/Tribeca area of downtown Manhattan.   Our institution was founded back in 1964 by educational pioneer Audrey Cohen.   Her lifelong commitment to interconnected ideals of social justice, educational excellence, and economic opportunity continues to be at the forefront of our educational philosophy.  MCNY believes that students learn best when they understand the Purpose for their learning and see the connection between what they are learning in the classroom and their ability to change their lives and the lives of others in a positive fashion.  The Purpose determines the focus for the Constructive Action that students are required to plan, implement, and evaluate. That Action must relate to the semester's Purpose and improve the lives of individuals and institutions outside the classroom.  Because MCNY’s curriculum fully integrates the classroom and the workplace, it allows students to work full-time and attend the school full-time. Students therefore use their studies as the basis for taking action to improve their workplace or internship site; engage in an educational experience that is active, rather than passive, and far more effective; and remain in the workplace while earning their degree.
