Radio Frequency Engineer
Position Summary
Major Position Responsibilities
- Develop RF amplifiers and other systems for improving overall performance and efficiency
- Design, documentation, fabrication and installation of the RF systems associated with the FRIB project and future upgrades
- Schedule or perform preventive maintenance, repair and parts management for assigned equipment
- Maintain consistent accurate records of maintenance tasks and results and indicate areas of improvement
- Construct and modify engineering prototypes in a timely manner and seek critical evaluation of designs
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of developing processes and independently find means to improve productivity and implements alternative methods
- Fabricate and install and/or manage the fabrication and installation of electronic systems as required and foresee any potential problem areas
- Continue to strive to improve productivity, quality and uniformity
- Assist in generating electronic documentation and insurethat documents are available, up-to-date and complete for all assignedequipment
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college program in Systems or Computer Science; or Engineering or Physics, with coursework in Systems or Computer Science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting and fabrication techniques, or computer programming in one or more languages used by the NSCL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with RF circuits and related test equipment (networkanalyzers, signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.)

Experience with high power RF amplifiers and power supplies

Knowledgeable with design tools such as ANSYS Electronics/HFSS,SPICE, Matlab, etc.

An understanding of PLC-based systems

Experiencewith schematic and layout tools (Altium preferred)

Experience managing designs in a formal environment with good negotiating and communication skills
