LLC Controls Engineer
Position Summary
Communicate regularly with all staff levels; design, document, program and install PLC based control systems; use Allen Bradley ControlLogix, GuardLogix, Compact GuardLogix PLC’s,interface and AutoCad; assist with design and implementation Safety systems utilizing the EN ISO 13849-1 or IEC EN 61508 safety standards; perform preventive maintenance, repair and parts management for assigned equipment; keep consistent accurate records of maintenance tasks and results; indicate areas of improvement, with noticeably lower failure rates; construct, modify, and assist in developing engineering prototypes accurately and in a timely manner; seek critical evaluation of designs; maintain an accurate and factual documentation of developing processes; independently find means to improve productivity and implements alternative methods; fabricate and install and/or manage the fabrication and installation of electronic systems as required; determine ways to optimize logic or systems without making overly complex; foresee any potential problem areas and notifies line manager; continually strive to improve productivity, quality, and uniformity; assist in generating electronic documentation and insures that documents are available, up-to-date, and complete for all assigned equipment.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college program in Systems or Computer Science; or Engineering or Physics, with coursework in Systems or Computer Science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting and fabrication techniques, or computer programming in one or more languages used by the NSCL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
