Power Supply Engineer
Position Summary
Perform preventive maintenance, repair, spare power supply, and spare parts management for assigned equipment; keep consistent accurate records of maintenance tasks and results; indicate areas of improvement, which noticeably lower failure rates; construct, modify and assist in developing engineering prototypes accurately and in a timely manner; seek critical evaluation of designs; maintain an accurate and factual documentation of developing processes; independently find means to improve productivity and implements alternative methods; fabricate and install and/or manages the fabrication and installation of electronic systems as required; foresee any potential problem areas and notifies line manager; continually strive to improve productivity, quality and uniformity; assist in generating electronic documentation and insures that documents are available, up-to-date and complete for all assigned equipment; check availability and location of all documentation and locates missing documents on a weekly basis; manage, maintain and supports installations of power supply systems throughout the Lab; determine ways to optimize power supply systems without making overly complex.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics; one to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in physics, electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting, fabrication techniques, heat transfer, cryogenics and computer systems; and may require experience in the use of CAD and/or related engineering systems, including file transfer; experience in the use of exotic metals, including knowledge of their properties, in the fabrication and assembly of sophisticated research equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
