Position Summary

This trial has quantitative, and qualitative/survey implementation data available. Other, smaller, trials include: a trial of HIV prevention for women leaving prison who have a history of interpersonal victimization, a trial of a treatment for major depression among women who have experienced perinatal loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death), and a small trial of a treatment for pregnant and postpartum women with co-occurring substance use and major depressive disorders. Ongoing trials include AA linkage and suicide prevention for pretrial jail detainees returning to the community. Pending studies include: (a) a large implementation trial of postpartum depression prevention in 90 clinics servicing low-income women, and (b) a Center grant creating the Michigan Mental Health and Justice Center. During this time, the Research Associate will work on manuscripts of mutual interest to the fellow and to Dr. Johnson. (2) Data analysis and data management for Dr. Johnson’s previous and ongoing clinical trials (20-40%). (3) The remainder of the time (up to 20%) can be devoted to any or all of the following activities, as desired by the fellow: Grant writing, independent manuscript preparation and submission, clinical activities, or didactics, seminars, etc.
The duration of the position is two years, the second year contingent upon satisfactory progress in the first year. The start date is ASAP. The position is based at the College of Human Medicine in Flint, a vibrant and growing research group dedicated to community partnered research for underserved populations.
