Community:

To say Minot is going through a growth spurt is an understatement. You don't have to travel far to see it, building of apartments, condos and single family homes  are keeping contractors busy. Talk with anyone from this area and they will fill you in on the Bakken (Bah-ken) formation, an oil formation named after a farmer in Williston, ND, Henry Bakken, who owned the land where it was initially discovered. New rock fracturing technology has enabled companies to get at the oil, something that was nearly impossible thirty years ago. North Dakota is now number two in the nation in oil production.  But Agriculture is still the state's number one industry.  It's what the state is known for, what our ancestors did when North Dakota began. The City of Minot also has its roots with the railroad.  That’s how the name “Magic City” came about.  As crews made their way west, they settled in for the winter wherever they were, and that just happened to be Minot.  The once sleepy little town suddenly boomed overnight…….just like magic! Take a moment to learn more about this community to see what Minot has to offer in the way of entertainment, parks, shopping and so much more.  Discover what truly makes Minot magic!
