President's Commission on Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, and Diversity
The mandate of the President's Commission on Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, and Diversity is to: Recommend to the President of the University that special studies be undertaken to identify, analyze and evaluate problem areas inherent in minority and female employment. Recommend to the President of the University policies and procedures to assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of the University's equal employment opportunity and affirmative action program required by Federal Executive Orders 11246 and 11375, as amended and any other federal or state rules or regulation now in effect or that may be passed relating to equal opportunity and affirmative action. Recommend to the President of the University actions designed to assure that the University fulfills its legal responsibilities and its moral commitment to equal opportunity and affirmative action without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or physical/mental disability. Assist the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Officer in all ways to achieve success in organizing and monitoring the University's Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action program.

ISO is the spearhead organization in Montclair State's quest for international diversity, the organization provides assistance, company, and guidance to Montclair State's large international student body.

Equity & Diversity Programs collaborates with various Montclair State University organizations and departments on programs such as Diversity Week, Building Bridges Interfaith Dialogue Series, LGBT Safe Space training, Constitution Day, and the World’s Fair to encourage awareness and diversity. In addition, Equity & Diversity Programs promotes heritage and pride months such as African American History, Latino/a Pride, National Coming Out Day, Women’s History, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage.
In the fall, we offer the annual What’s the D.E.A.L. (Diversity, Equity and Leadership) at Montclair State University? Conference for students. In the spring, we coordinate the annual All-Together Different Student Weekend Retreat, along with the Student Government Association and Student Leadership Programs, which aims to increase communication between diverse student populations on-campus. This weekend encourages student networking through team building activities, skits, and facilitated "tough conversations." We also provide a similar one-day diversity training for university faculty and staff in the winter.

If you’re looking for an eclectic arts scene mixed with world cuisine and a funky downtown, Montclair is for you. This exurb (urban suburb) is home to writers, artists and musicians, whose presence is felt in the vibrant downtown, on the campus of Montclair State University that's home to the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center and in the various theaters and other arts spots.
Also at the university ae the New Jersey Jackals professional minor league babeball team that play in Yogi Berra Stadium.
For art lovers there's the Montclair Art Museum with permanent and changing exhibits, converst and films. Visit the spectactular English-style Avis Campbell Gardens.
The walkable downtown centers on Church Street, pedestrian friendly and filled with such locally owned shops as Amanti Vino for unusual wines, Beans for international coffees and Ruby for hip women’s clothes.
On nearby Bloomfield Avenue, you can travel gastronomically at Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant, Cuban Pete’s or Turkish spot Lalezar. Also around town are grand Victorian mansions and Arts and Crafts movement homes.
Several, including the Crane House and Evergreen, are available for tours. They are part of the Victorian Society of Montclair.

Local secret:
Applegate Farms’ (Grove Street) distinctive red barn has been a fixture in Montclair since 1880. Today, the homemade ice cream is enjoyed 365 days a year (when it’s frosty out, plan to get it to go – there’s no indoor seating).
