Position Summary
The Program Administrator for the Center for the Study of Africa and the African Diaspora (CSAAD) will be responsible for overseeing its programmatic and co-curricular activities and communication, and will serve as the principal coordinator for CSAAD’s collaboration with other units across all of NYU’s campuses. The incumbent will be the authorized person to interact with Fiscal in budgetary matters, and will schedule and arrange guest travel and event sites. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining CSAAD’s website as well as its database, and will help to prepare the program’s annual reports and assessment tools. Will help write grant proposals. As NYU is the host institution for the Association for the Study of the African Diaspora (ASWAD), an academic organization of international stature founded at NYU in 2000, CSAAD will serve as the specific office within which ASWAD records and communications are maintained, so that CSAAD’s Program Administrator will be responsible for maintaining those records and communications. Finally, CSAAD’s Program Administrator will supervise student staff assigned to CSAAD, and will maintain a flexible schedule to be present for these activities.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in a related area.
Required Experience:
Two years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include administering academic or community-based programs, preparing budgets, and grant-proposal writing.
Preferred Experience:
At least several months of experience living outside of the U.S., and/or experience working with culturally diverse communities.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to develop effective relationships and communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Ability to manage work concurrently and communicate with diverse stakeholders. Strong teamwork abilities. Strong proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications. Attention to detail with ability to energetically perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.
