Description
The Office of the Registrar is seeking to hire a Degree Program Specialist (Degree Auditor). The Degree Program Specialist is vital in reviewing degree candidates across all GSU college campuses. In addition, the Degree Program Specialist reviews candidates for the Associate Degree You Deserve (Reverse Transfer) initiative, and support candidate related functions such as providing Letters of Completion and verifying student eligibility for Commencement related activities. These positions also perform critical testing of Banner functions related to the online graduation application.
Examples of duties:

Maintain and evaluate complex and detailed student academic and graduation data in the computerized student system Banner and in a variety of student record document files.

Review academic program evaluations and accurately maintain student files on status toward completion.
Work closely with advising staff and students, interpreting policy and in addressing graduation requirements that are deficient. -
Assist students with the graduation application process and related questions throughout the review period.

Determine honor status for baccalaureate students (at the beginning of the semester and after final grades) and special distinctions at the time of graduation for notation on the transcript.

Maintain close and effective working relationships with administrative personnel in the various Colleges, the Registrar's Office and other offices in the University.

Direct and assist students, faculty members, and others on the day of commencement in all aspects of the commencement proceedings (i.e., assembly of students, processional and recessional, and any duties as required).

Assist alumni of the University with verification of degree completion as needed.
Skills needed:
Professional should be able to audit and monitor the successful completion of all academic requirements necessary for the conferral of degrees, adhering to all University, Board of Regents, State and Federal Department of Education requirements. Must exercise sound judgment in interpreting policy and in reviewing requirements for graduation which includes attention to detail not only for specific course and grade requirements, but other policy and legislative requirements as stated in the University's Catalog, including but not limited to, core and major area learning outcomes, total credits need in specific areas for completion, residency requirements, and specified grade point averages for graduation. Must provide quality customer service working closely with advising staff throughout the University, approving audits prepared by the academic colleges, and in communicating with students for successful completion.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or high school diploma or GED and four years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
