The University Research Services Administration, High Containment Core is seeking to hire an Associate Director, High Containment Laboratories.The scope of responsibilities will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following,

Responsible for operations of high containment laboratories. Reviews protocols & schedules projects. Verifies IBC & other committee & administrative approvals prior to project initiation. Prepares budget and hires and supervises staff. Maintains records and reports for select agents.

Develops specialized training in microbiological technique for work in high containment facilities. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and Select Agent Tier I Program. Conducts risk assessments, ensures compliance with Occupational Health & Safety program. Maintains security manuals.

Develops policies and procedures, updates incident Response and High Containment Laboratory Manuals, Maintains Select Agent suitability compliance and records. Responsible for facility security. Develops and enforces policies for access. Maintains inventory management system.

Oversees facility and equipment operations according to regulatory standards, policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with standards including maintenance and repairs.

Evaluates development opportunities for the facilities and growing research in the laboratories and proposed plans for growth. Maintains presence and participation in professional organizations of the biosafety community.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Viral Immunology or related field and four years of supervisory/management experience and experience in high containment facilities environment; or a combination of education and related experience. Master's degree and CBSP certification preferred.
