Position Summary
Dominican University of California is seeking an individual for a Groundskeeper position. Under direct supervision of the Grounds Manager and Assistant Grounds Manager, the Groundskeeper performs all grounds maintenance for the University, ensuring the campus grounds are a safe and pleasant environment.
Responsibilities
- Use of small garden tools and large and small mechanized equipment to carry out all aspects of grounds maintenance, including but not limited to: pruning including trees, raking, weeding, mowing, planting.
- Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems.
- Understand concepts of and implement integrated pest management practices as directed including appropriate use of pesticides.
- Maintain garden, Irrigation and pesticide equipment and tools in a clean, safe and organized manner.
- Cleaning and repairing as needed.
- Maintaining facility vehicles.
- Maintain exterior furnishings.
- Must document maintenance work performed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 5 years of experience with safe operation and maintenance of power garden equipment
- Ability to understand and follow directions in English
- Current driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required and must be maintained.
- Must have ability to lift and carry materials up to 60 LBS and backpack equipment weighing up to 50 LBS
