The university

NAU is a public, high research university with more than 25,000 students, 40 percent of whom are the first in their families to go to college. Our academic programs, which have been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report, contain diversity curricula to help shape our students into responsible and knowledgeable citizens of the world. Getting involved on campus 

Commission on Ethnic Diversity: promotes unity and diversity to create an environment of multicultural awareness and education across the campus.

Commission on the Status of Women: works to enhance a campus environment that is favorable and equitable for women.

Commission for Native Americans: considers, evaluates, and analyzes all matters pertaining to Native Americans at Northern Arizona University.

Commission on Disability Access and Design: works to ensure a university community free from physical and attitudinal barriers to services, programs, and activities through universal design.

LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Allies) Commission: an organization of individuals from the university and select Flagstaff community members, bound by the common interest of promoting mutual respect, fairness, equity, improved campus climate, and support for LGBTQIA diversity at the university.
