Description
The Department of Experiential Engineering Education (ExEEd) in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University invites applications for tenure-track faculty position(s) at the Assistant Professor rank. ExEEd was launched as a new Department in 2016 to catalyze the translation of educational innovations into the classroom, cultivate a collaborative environment for engineering education research, and to lead the College’s undergraduate engineering educational mission for first- and second-year students.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to engage in high quality, evidence-based teaching and build a robust, externally-funded research program focused on engineering education. As part of their teaching role in the department, they will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative projects, pedagogies and curricula for early engineering courses in an environment where excellence in teaching is strongly valued. They will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to develop a novel graduate engineering education curriculum. The successful candidate must demonstrate commitment to working with students and faculty from different engineering disciplines and from diverse backgrounds including women, students of color, LGBTQ students, low income and first-generation to college students, students with disabilities, and veterans.
Qualifications
Applicants must have earned a minimum of a B.S. degree in an Engineering field and a Ph.D. in Engineering, Engineering Education, STEM Education or an equivalent field. The candidate is expected to have prior engineering education research experience and have publications in the engineering education field. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to teach in a multidisciplinary, hands-on, project and problem-based learning environment.
Start Date
The anticipated starting date for this Assistant Professor position is September 1, 2019.
