Description: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rowan University is seeking dynamic applicants for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to: teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, guide an active scholarly research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students, obtain funding from competitive external funding agencies and engage in relevant service activities.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of academic and research programs and to contribute to the research community. We are seeking outstanding candidates in any of the following areas 1) water resources engineering with focus on urban/regional water resources management, watershed modeling, computational fluid mechanics, river mechanics, sediment transport, and environmental dispersion 2) environmental engineering with focus on exploring new ideas in water quality in areas such as water and wastewater treatment, chemical and/or microbial public health aspects, microbial ecology in engineered systems, and groundwater modeling 3) construction materials and pavements with focus on innovative construction materials characterization, accelerated pavement testing, and computational modeling of pavement systems and 4) ) geotechnical engineering with focus on geo-environmental engineering, sustainable urban and offshore development, and energy geotechnics.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and student mentoring. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a strongly-funded research program and collaborate, as needed, with multi-disciplinary groups of faculty and professionals, including personnel at the South Jersey Technology Park and/or the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. The successful candidate is also expected to apply innovative teaching techniques and/or conduct research in the scholarship of teaching.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in civil and/or environmental engineering and a baccalaureate degree from an ABET accredited engineering program (or equivalent) are required. Preference will be given to candidates with professional engineering licenses or the qualifications and experience to apply for a PE license.
Salary: Competitive
Start Date: The anticipated start date for this civil engineering faculty position will be September 1, 2019.
