Summary: Responsible for the physical and mental health of patients as well as teaching and mentoring undergraduate medical students, interns and residents. Provide full scope of services that fall under their training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and/or Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Neuromuscular Medicine. One should become familiar with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Institute and Rowan Medicine. They must be cognizant, and comply with, all University and Institute policies and procedures, as well as pertinent State and Federal regulations.
Candidate Qualifications:
-Board Eligible/Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation or Pain Management with Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine/Neuromuscular Medicine experience.
-Trained in Addiction Medicine with valid DATA-2000 Waiver License
-Successful Completion from an accredited residency program
-Valid NJ Medical License, DEA and CDS
Essential Duties:
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating of clinical patients in order to meet their medical needs
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families
- Provides training and education of medical students, interns, residents and fellows. Must be able to train medical students in both the lab and clinical setting.
- Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
- Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
- Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
- Prescribes medical treatment and medication within scope of practice guidelines and following New Jersey state regulations
- Orders and follows up on studies, tests and ancillary services
- Performs treatments, procedures and therapy within scope of practice and specialty
- Documents all services in patient electronic medical record according to University standards and policies
- Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention
- Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues
- Participates in peer review, quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements
- Oversees mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff
- Assists in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
- Participates in faculty development
