Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job |
The Department of History at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of US Latina/o History, with a preference for Mexican American and Chicana/o History, to begin Fall 2019. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face and online) in US Latina/o history and either half of the American History survey. |

Educational Requirements for the Position |
Ph.D. in History is required prior to appointment. ABD candidates may apply; however, the Ph.D. must be completed before the start of the appointment. |
Experience Required for the Position |
We seek scholars working in any subfield and any period, and especially seek those who work in borderlands, transnationalism/globalization, or labor, and whose work correlates with one of the thematic tracks organizing the department’s M.A. program: (1) Rights & Identity; (2) War & Violence; and (3) Encounters & Exchanges. We prefer candidates who are proficient in Spanish. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students, as well as a promising research agenda. |
