Educational and Experience Requirement |
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or in a related field is strongly preferred. Four years of experience in a higher education environment working with leadership development, student organizations, service-learning programs, campus activities, or related experience. Supervisory experience of both students and professional staff; experience with CampusLabs Engage software; CliftonStrengths; fiscal management; and assessment desirable. |
Nature & Purpose of Position |
Plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day operations of the Leadership Initiatives department with the oversight of the Director. Performs complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for the department. |
Primary Responsibilities |
Directs program activities of staff related to leadership development, community service initiatives, and student organization development. Implements knowledge of commonly used leadership theories, service-learning practices, student organization/advisor development, and CliftonStrengths through work with direct reports, students, faculty, and staff. Regularly presents and facilitates development trainings/workshops for students, faculty, and staff. Position will assist the Director of Leadership Initiatives in the preparation, presentation, and administration of the departmental budget and assume the leadership role in the absence of the Director. Attends or represents the university, department and/or Director at various meetings or workshops. Develops goals, objectives, and assists with strategic planning for the department. Oversees and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Develops, implements, evaluates, and oversees compliance with policies and procedures. Identifies areas of needed change and makes recommendations to improve operations. Develops and implements assessment focusing on continuous improvement, to evaluate departmental programs and services. Prepares and reviews reports. Monitors budget expenditures. Serves on university committees. Ensures compliance with applicable departmental and university policies and local, state, and federal requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. |
