This position is in the Management Personnel Plan (Administrator I) and earns management benefits including medical, dental, vision, $100,000 life insurance plan, and the CalPERS pension plan. For more information on benefits included for this position, please see the benefits summary. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, at will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs. The Associate Director of Residential Education reports directly to the Director of Residential Education and is responsible for supervision of the Residence Hall Coordinators, crisis management, budget planning, research, and facilities planning. The Associate Director supervises four to five full-time professional employees (Residence Hall Coordinators) in performing their job duties as members of the residence hall staff for a residential population of between 5200-7000 students. The Associate Director of Residential Education is also responsible for behavioral control and contract enforcement processes for four to six halls, which are growth-producing and encourage individual student responsibility for behavior within the residence hall community. The Associate Director of Residential Education provides departmental oversight and implementation of large campus wide programming, including Welcome Week and Aztec Nights. In collaboration with the Director of Residential Education, he/she plans, budgets, collaborates with various campus offices and begins the contracting process for these campus wide events. In addition, the Associate Director oversees large scale departmental initiatives such as residence hall move-in and Explore SDSU, assists in the facilitation of various sections of University Seminar (General Studies 100), serves on Campus Committees, oversees the graduate student selection and training committee, and participates on additional screening committees for departmental positions. The Associate Director is responsible for the development and coordination of ongoing residential programs and workshops dealing with issues of pluralism and civic engagement. Works closely with residential staff and student leaders to ensure a balanced program regarding these issues (i.e. Affinity Groups, OneSDSU programming, community service trips, etc.). Assists with the organization of (including preparation, publicity, staffing, evaluation, etc.) two major campus-wide Residential Education programs, the Journey to a Shared Humanity (Fall) and the REO Cares program (Spring). The Associate Director of Residential Education collaborates with the Student Affairs Assessment and Research Office to evaluate Residential Education’s achievement of student learning outcomes and evaluates progress to degree of residential students, to include grade point averages, percent of students on academic probation, number of units attempted, number of units completed, etc. The Associate Director of Residential Education assists the Director in the development of a variety of budgets, utilizing zero-based budgeting, baseline budgeting, and other budgeting methods. The Associate Director assists residence hall students to build a strong sense of community in the residence halls and pursue informal educational activities through implementation, maintenance, and coordination of all residence hall programs. The Associate Director of Residential Education develops and maintains relationships with faculty, college administration and staff, and representatives from various public agencies and professional organizations. Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,917 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,502 - $9,083 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
